This Trick or Treat crochet bag is perfect for those last minute Halloween touches. Instead of buying a new Halloween bucket this year, I decided to make a reusable one that will last year after year. Cause what’s better than saving a few bucks during the holidays right?
The Yarn
The two main things I wanted for this crochet bag were a fun design, and a durability since I knew I wanted it to last for a while. I chose to use my favorite cotton yarn I Love This Cotton by Hobby Lobby Stores, but of course, feel free to use whatever cotton yarn you’d like. If you’ve been following me for a while, then you know that this 100% cotton is my go to yarn. Not only are the colors vibrant, but it also has an amazing sheen and softness that not all cotton yarn has. I use this same yarn for nearly any crochet bag I make. Check out the Lumberjack Crochet Bag or the Girl Boss Crochet Bag to see some of the other colors. Or of course just stop in your local Hobby Lobby store. 🙂
The thing I love about crocheting from charts is that it makes the project easily adjustable, and this bag is no different. Need a bigger bag to hold those king size candy bars? Then just size up a hook or add a few more stitches to each side. You can even make the bag deeper just by simply adding a few rows before the handles. Simple right?
The Inspiration
The older I get, the more I’m beginning to truly appreciate things that are handmade. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always loved being a maker, but the extreme gratitude for having the talent to make something out of almost nothing wasn’t always there. Now when I make something (or purchase something handmade), I can fully recognize the worth of that item. Anything that is handmade leaves a little piece of that person behind, and I’m old enough now to genuinely cherish the time and effort that it takes to be a maker.
