The Lumberjack Crochet Pouch
Plaid items were a huge hit this fall/winter! From hats, to scarves, to blankets, you name it! But who says you can only have plaid things when it’s chilly out? So to keep that plaid spirit alive, I’ll be toting my Lumberjack Pouch around with me.
As a maker, we all have lots of “stuff”, why not have a pretty place to keep things organized. This pouch can be used to organize your purse or backpack, it can be used as a makeup bag, or a cute place to keep your crochet tools together!
In honor of the “luckiest” month of the year, I decided to work with green colored yarns instead of the typical reds for this project. Speaking of yarn, I used “I Love This Cotton!” yarn by Hobby Lobby Stores. It is 100% cotton and super soft, which is why I use it time and time again, but any 100% cotton yarn will do for this project.
If you’ve never tried your hand at tapestry crochet, that’s completely fine! This project is pretty simple once you get the hang of a few basic things, then you’ll be on your way to becoming an old pro at this tapestry crochet thing. There are no difficult stitches to learn, so don’t you worry.
The only stitch that will be used for this pouch is the modified single crochet stitch. Modified single crochet is just a fancy way of telling you insert your hook into the back loop only, and to yarn under instead of over.
Modified Single Crochet (mSC)
Insert the hook into the stitch (back loop only), yarn over, pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), yarn UNDER, and then pull through both loops on the hook.
