We’re down to the last 2 months of 2020, and the cold weather has definitely set in. With Halloween in our rear view, it’s officially time to switch into Super Maker Mode for the holiday season. Now, the holidays are already stressful enough, so for my makes I like to keep it cute and simple, and the Lights Out Crochet Scarf is just that.
This straightforward yet fashionable crochet scarf, the Lights Out Scarf, is the perfect accessory for the colder seasons. This textured, super long scarf is just the thing you need to complete any, and I mean any, outfit. Dressed up? Throw on this scarf. Dressed down? Throw on this scarf. The possibilities are endless!
The Yarn
For this project, the star of the show is going to be the yarn you choose to use. The Lights Out Scarf is made with The Yarn Collective Hudson Worsted by LoveCrafts. This is my first project with this yarn and you guys, it did not disappoint. Let me tell you a little more about it. This yarn is a Category 4 weight yarn and comes in hanks of 196 yards. It is super soft and comes in 11 beautiful colors that are all fit for fall. This yarn is a blend of 85% Merino Wool and 15% Yak. I’m normally not a fan of yarns that are blended with Yak, but this yarn is the exception. The squish is so real I almost can’t believe it’s a wool blend. For the Lights Out Scarf you will need 3 hanks. Go ahead and get the hard part out of the way, pick out the color or colors for your Lights Out Scarf.

Yarn Subs
Now, if you can’t get your hands on the Yarn Collective Hudson Worsted, no worries! This crochet scarf can be made with just about any worsted weight yarn. Great substitutes for this yarn would be Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran or MillaMia Naturally Soft Aran.
The Inspiration
The inspiration for this crochet scarf is simple. I needed to make something that required minimal thought. Being a crochet designer is one of the greatest jobs in the world, but just like with anything else, you can get burned out, especially around this time of year. My goal was to crochet something beautiful that could be easily put down and picked back up. Because let’s face it, we don’t have unlimited time to crochet, even though it’s something we’d love to have.
