NJ Dress Crochet Pattern
Are you ready for the perfect crochet dress for any occasion? Wait no more because the NJ Dress is here! This is the first ever dress from Designs by Key, and I couldn’t be more excited about it.
I know I say this about everything I crochet, but this has to be my favorite piece of all time. What I love about crochet is the ability to choose different stitches to form whatever pattern I want, and that’s just what I did with the NJ Dress. The star of this crochet dress are the bobble designs that are both on the front and the back of the dress. The front of the dress displays a 3 row bobble design that is sure to get attention anywhere you go, and the back has a single line of bobbles directly down the middle to accentuate your natural curves. This dress also features an open shoulder sleeve to give this dress a fresh fashionable look.
Inspiration
I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again, my mother is the most fashionable person that I know! I’ve always admired her sense of style for as long as I can remember. Til this day, I can send my mother to the store to buy clothes for me and not second guess any of her choices. When creating the NJ dress, I definitely had her in mind. She is bold and modern with a little bit of sass, and I wanted to create a piece to represent just that. My creativity most definitely stems from my mother, and I can’t thank her enough for always allowing me to be who I am. My Norma Jean <3
The Yarn
If you’ve been following my blog, then you know Hobby Lobby’s “I Love This Yarn” is usually my go to for an acrylic yarn, but I decided to switch things up a little. While visiting my local Joanne’s store I ran across this beautiful yarn by Lion Brand yarns, and I knew it had to come home with me. For the NJ Dress I used Lion Brand’s Pound of Love in the color burgundy. The great thing about this particular yarn is right in the name, it’s a pound, 1020 yards of yarn to be exact. To crochet the NJ dress you will need approximately 1400 – 2000 yards of worsted weight yarn. So I ended up purchasing just 2 skeins of this yarn to get the job done. I’m normally very picky about acrylic yarn, so I tend to stick to one kind, but the color of this yarn was so rich, I couldn’t pass it up.
Pattern testing is a critical part of designing any crochet pattern. Testers give me a different perspective of my design, and they help me to see things that I may have overlooked. Honestly, they are the real heroes of any crochet design, and I was lucky enough to have a fabulous group of testers to help me launch this design! Please take some time to click their links, and show them some love. And take a look at their beautiful NJ dresses!
