Craft Room Crochet Makeover: Halloween Edition

🎃 My Halloween Craft Room Makeover with Crochet Wall Art, Pillows, and More!

There’s something about October that makes me want to go all out with the spooky vibes. This year, I decided my craft room needed a full Halloween makeover. After all, it’s where I spend the most time creating—and if it’s going to inspire me, why not let it be festive too?

I knew I wanted a mix of cozy, spooky, and handmade. So, like most of us do, I opened up Pinterest and started scrolling for inspiration. And let me tell you—Pinterest did not disappoint! I found the cutest tapestry crochet charts that were just begging to be turned into wall art, and I even took it a step further with pillows to match.

The end result? A cozy, spooky craft room that makes me smile every time I walk in.

👻 Pinterest Inspiration

Like most of my projects, this makeover started on Pinterest. I put together a full Halloween & Fall Pinterest board with all the charts, patterns, and ideas I wanted to try. It’s a mix of tapestry crochet, plushies, pumpkins, and home décor, and honestly, it became my spooky-season mood board.

Here are some of the tapestry crochet charts that inspired the wall hangings:

And I didn’t stop at wall hangings—I also pinned the patterns for a plushy ghost and some pumpkins, which of course made their way into my space too.

🧶 Yarn & Supplies

This makeover wasn’t about stash-busting—I made a special trip (well, a few trips) to get just the right yarns:

  • From Hobby Lobby, I picked up I Love This Yarn in Desert Glaze (the perfect pumpkin orange) and classic black.

  • From Dollar Tree, I grabbed Just Chenille in black and white—it’s a budget-friendly velvet-type yarn that has a soft, plush feel.

  • From Michael’s, I snagged a skein of white Loops & Threads yarn—because I had a coupon about to expire, and no crocheter wastes a good coupon on anything but yarn.

The mix of velvet, acrylic, and soft textures gave each project its own personality and made the wall feel layered instead of flat.

🎃 Handmade Projects

Here’s everything I crocheted for this makeover:

✨ Tapestry Crochet Wall Hangings

These are the main pieces that make up the gallery wall: ghosts, pumpkins, “Hey Boo,” and Ghostface. Each one is inspired by a pinned chart (links above). I hung them with command strips so I can easily swap them out when it’s time for a new season.

✨ Jack-o’-Lantern Pillows

I also designed and crocheted my own Jack-o’-Lantern pillows. To make them extra special, I created a custom tapestry crochet chart for the faces. Instead of a download, I’m sharing the chart right here in this post so you can try it out yourself—just scroll to the bottom to find it!

✨ Hocus Pocus Pillow

This is an older project of mine that I brought back out for the season. The pattern is already available in my shop if you’d like to make one too.

✨ Plushy Ghost

I couldn’t resist making a little plush ghost! It’s cute, squishy, and adds some extra personality to my craft room. The pattern is pinned to my Halloween board if you want to make your own.

✨ Crocheted Pumpkins

No Halloween setup is complete without pumpkins. I made a few in different sizes to scatter around, using a pinned pattern from my board. They add the perfect cozy touch.

🕸 Decorating the Wall

To keep everything from feeling too handmade, I mixed in store-bought pieces:

  • A wooden “Welcome, come in and rest your bones” skull sign

  • A “Trick or Treat” pumpkin sign

  • Black spiderwebs stretched across the wall

  • Little bats and spiders filling the gaps

Arranging the wall was like putting together a puzzle—I laid everything out on the floor first, then shifted things around until it felt balanced. The end result is part gallery wall, part spooky display, and all festive fun.

✨ The Final Look

The combination of wall hangings, pillows, and plush décor made the space feel so much cozier than I expected. It’s festive without being over-the-top, and it perfectly captures the spirit of the season.
